Windmill Springs is a school rich in heritage and community pride, serving about 500 students in grades TK through 8. We consider character building to be an important part of your child's education. We strive to create respectful, responsible, and safe Wildcats. We focus on mastery-goal orientation in our classrooms. We want to ensure that our students can truly use the knowledge they gain from attending school here. To this end, we have embraced the idea of growth mindset, or the idea of "not yet."
Windmill Springs is home to three SDC classrooms that serve students with autism. We are proud to give our students the opportunity to experience different perspectives. Some students will have the chance to mentor students with autism while they mainstream. This gives our students a unique experience that they learn from and reflect on for years to come.
We are working to create a science-focused curriculum for our students. We encourage our students to address problems like future engineers. Several of our grades focus on projects that address basic engineering skills. We choose to integrate our science into other subjects in our day to maximize your child's educational experience. Our 1st through 4th grade teachers utilize GLAD strategies to better support all of our students, especially our English language learners and our students with special needs. We have found that experiencing language through a common content area encourages better overall understanding.
We love to facilitate activities after school and in the evening. We have an annual family barbecue, Stories Under the Stars, and many more community events. These events help strengthen relationships between the school family and the home family.
