When fire destroyed the town of Paradise, California, the Windmill Springs Community wanted to help. Spearheaded by 4th grade teacher, Lauren Boyd, the Coins for Paradise fundraiser encouraged students, staff, and other community members to donate their spare change. The concept was simple - every little bit helps. It wasn't about how much any individual gave but about joining together, reaching out, and sharing whatever we had with those whose need was great.
Students were eager to participate, happily tucking their coins (or in some cases, bills) into collection jars throughout the campus. When the short fundraiser ended, the Windmill Springs Community had collected $712.63 to donate to Paradise schools. With our small donation, we send our love and well wishes to all those whose lives were affected by this horrible disaster.
