Specialized Instruction
English Language Development
English Language Development (ELD) is designed to help English Learners learn and acquire English to a level of proficiency that maximizes their capacity to engage successfully in academic studies taught in English. The ELD program consists of two components: integrated ELD, which is language instruction embedded in regular class work, and designated ELD, which is specific language instruction in the structures and use of English and vocabulary that is needed but may not be acquired through general class instruction
